We are a third of the way through the season, which is amazing and sad at the same time.
The Steelers managed to win a game on the road (finally) and win back to back games (finally).
At the 1/3rd pole, here are a few observations, both from this last week’s game at Tampa and the season so far:
- I mean…look at this:

- Seeing how well Rodgers has maneuvered around and outside of the pocket this season, it is now abundantly clear that he wasn’t fully healthy in 2025
- Being a Steelers fan all of my life, I have seen countless games that started just like the game did vs. the Bucs: lifeless offense, bad playcalling, bad tackling, losing to an inferior team. Yesterday’s result was probably a 5% outcome of those games. It’s rare that a Steelers team gets outplayed for 3 full quarters and ends up winning. Quite refreshing and a testament to the leaders on that team, both on the field and the coaching staff.

- Jalen Ramsey had an All-Pro level game vs. the Bucs. He was everywhere, and very well may have been the lone reason on defense they won the game. #5 is still playing at a high level, even with a broken hand.
- It was good to see Nick Herbig get a couple of sacks. Maybe this will unlock him for the remainder of the season.
- Germie Bernard reminds me of a cross of JuJu and Stephon Diggs. Good company to be in for the rookie.

- Over the next couple of weeks, the Steelers may get the likes of DeShon Elliott and Elandon Roberts on the defensive side of the ball. Might be a time for the defense to take it to another level.
- We are so spoiled by the excellence of Chris Boswell, that when he misses a FG, we immediately think that there was a hurricane force gust of wind or some supernatural event that caused the miss. Good to see his consistency return down the stretch for some big-time clutch FGs.
- Mike McCarthy still makes some boneheading game-management calls every game. Calling timeout at the end of regulation while the Bucs were scrambling to get the their FG unit on the field is just the latest example.
- In the pre-season, looking at the after-the-bye schedule, the Steelers had a tough road ahead of them. With teams like the Eagles, Broncos and Texans looking a little bit less formidable than they did prior to the season, things are looking up.
